Francesca’s Forno is a unique urban Italian Trattoria from iconic Chicago restaurateur and chef, Scott Harris. A departure from the traditional Francesca’s restaurant, Forno is a rustically warm and airy gathering place, located at the hub of Chicago’s artistic Wicker Park neighborhood. It is perfectly in tune with the creative vibe of the community. The newly revamped interior, décor and menu prompted Time Out Chicago to nominate it for Restaurant Comeback of the Year 2012.
At Forno, the energetic buzz of people having a great time is addictive; the conversation is lively and the food is zesty. The earthy décor, warm lighting, rustic wooden floors and choice of seating—wood slab tables, bar seating and communal tables—as well as the expansive wall of wine, invite guests to sit back and enjoy a carefree experience. The bar, located in the front of the restaurant, is a welcoming place to enjoy specialty cocktails, craft beers or a delicious selection from the expansive wine collection. In warm weather months, a full wall of sliding windows opens up, bringing the fresh air and hubbub of Wicker Park into this urban mecca. The six-point corner location is one of Chicago’s best sites for people watching.
The reasonably priced food is authentically Northern Italian: Rome, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio, all freshly made from scratch, with seasonal ingredients. Francesca’s Forno’s menu is filled with many great dishes that are perfect for sharing. From lighter salads and appetizers to comforting Panini, pasta dishes and pizzas, there is something for every taste and appetite. Entrées, featuring top grade fish, meats and poultry are expertly prepared. Weekend brunch is the place to see and be seen while sipping a handcrafted cocktail or special-recipe Mimosa.
As with all Francesca’s restaurants, the staff is engaging, knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile.
